When you visit Niagara Falls Canada, the Movieland Wax Museum on Clifton Hill may not be the only place you could spot celebrities.
Niagara Falls has been attracting well-known visitors for more than 200 years who have toured Niagara Falls with a company or on their own.
Here are some of the most famous people who have toured the Canadian side:
HISTORICAL FIGURES AND NIAGARA FALLS
When we’re talking about famous people, we’re not just referring to the modern stars we know of today.
Charles Dickens: Visited in 1842 and wrote about the Falls in American Notes.
Mark Twain: Visited multiple times and often referenced the Falls and wrote about Niagara Falls, including: “You can descend a staircase here a hundred and fifty feet down, and stand at the edge of the water. After you have done it, you will wonder why you did it; but you will then be too late." - Niagara, Sketches Old and New.
Nikola Tesla: Spent time in the region while working on hydroelectric power systems nearby. He made such an impact that we’ve erected a statue of him that looks over the falls.

John F. Kennedy: Visited prior to his presidency.

British royalty has its finger prints all over Niagara Falls Canada. So much so that a statue of King George VI is located in “Queen Victoria Park”.

Queen Elizabeth II: Visited several times over her reign.
Princess Diana: Came in 1991 with Prince William and Prince Harry.
Winston Churchill: Toured the Falls during the 1940s.
Prince Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII): Toured the Falls in 1860.

Marilyn Monroe: Filmed Niagara (1953) on location, spending significant time at the Falls.
Christopher Reeves: Filmed Superman II (1980) on location, spending significant time at the Falls.
Elvis Presley: Visited while touring in the 1950s.
Jim Carrey: Grew up in Ontario and visited multiple times.
Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio: Filmed scenes for Titanic research and promotion visits.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono: Visited together in 1969 (unconfirmed whether or not this visit had anything to do with the Beatles breaking up).

Serena Williams: Visited with her daughter visited during their tour of the wonders of the world.
Many world class athletes visited Niagara Falls while in the area competing during the 2024 Invictus Games.
